I just spent about six months working for the United States Patent and Trademark Office in the Washington, DC area. I held a job as a Patent Examiner, and I had my own apartment in Alexandria, Virginia. My motto from this point on is, "All secrets shall be revealed!" So I will speak the truth to the best of my ability.
I received an e-mail from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) around June 2008 stating that it was considering hiring me as a Patent Examiner. A week later, USPTO called to hire me. I left Las Vegas in a hurry to move to Alexandria. Once there, I studied, interpreted, and applied US patent law in the prosecution of patent applications for semiconductor inventions. Every day I took the bus from my apartment to work, and every day I went back home.
It was good at first. I enjoyed my work, and I was paid well. Eventually, the stress mounted. Everyone there at the Patent Training Academy felt the pressure to meet the USPTO's production goals. It was an intellectual factory. I was supposed to complete Office Actions, or written decisions, on four patent applications every biweek (2 weeks). I managed only to do 1 every biweek. One thing led to another, and I resigned a week ago. I am returning to Nevada.
There I will work on my career as a freelance writer. I have an article titled Modern Slavery Operation In Las Vegas. It will appear in a newspaper. The story details the Las Vegas Mafia's use of mental patients for slave labor in supporting the entertainment and hospitality industry. The mentally ill/homeless community calls the operation, "The Underworld".
I'm going to use this blog for my memoir titled Shield of Faith. I'm Catholic again, and I will stay that way. The whole experience in Washington, DC taught me there is a God. I'll save my recollections of my work at USPTO for a later post. Another project I have is my novel The Rosary Bracelet http://rosarybracelet.blogspot.com/ I'm blogging it under the pen name of Patrick K. Finn.
I am thinking of attending UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law. It is the only law school I'm applying to. As a man on disability, I was able to land a fee waiver from the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) back when I lived in Las Vegas. LSAC granted me a few free law school reports, required by law school admissions offices. I took the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) for free. All I need are my transcripts and my application to UNLV.
I'm operating on blind faith at this point. I have no idea where God is sending me now. I know He's sending me to Nevada, but I don't know what's going on there. Right now, I'm involved in a love triangle. My girlfriend in Las Vegas, Charlene Mosley, has another boyfriend named Blair McAllister. He is a friend of mine from group therapy. I met Charlene from the same group therapy. They live together.
Charlene and I fell in love over the phone as we kept in contact after I moved to Washington, DC (Alexandria, VA, a suburb of DC). Charlene hinted to me that something was going on with Blair, but she would never say it directly. She could only confide in me that there was trouble when he was in the shower or at the gym. Blair apparently pretends to be "normal". In truth, he has schizophrenia and has had a problem with domestic violence. Charlene has said, "Blair isn't who he says he is." She has to sneak around him because she uses the cell phone he pays for.
Finally, Charlene left a message on my voice mail that Blair was "seeing demons" or something like that. I called Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to do a Check Welfare on Charlene. When I followed up, it seems Blair lied and said everything was fine. I suspect all is not well with Charlene and Blair. I will deal with this problem when I get back to Nevada. Remember, all secrets shall be revealed.
